EcoPulse: Bringing Resource Efficiency into Everyday Manufacturing Decisions

Croom Medical’s investment in digital energy management received national recognition in 2026, with the company named a finalist in the Digital Innovation in Energy Management category at the Business Energy Achievement Awards. The recognition followed work on EcoPulse, Croom’s AI-driven energy-management dashboard.

The project reflects a practical manufacturing priority. As equipment, processes and production volumes change, the business needs to understand how resources are being used and where closer attention is required. Energy information becomes more valuable when it can inform the decisions made by the people running the factory.

Making resource use visible

In a case study published on 3 July 2026, Enterprise Ireland reported that Croom’s live energy-monitoring system was operational across the facility. Its coverage includes major manufacturing assets and supporting services, together with solar generation and water consumption.

Meter readings feed into Croom’s internal MES at 15-minute intervals. Reporting connects energy use to work centres, shifts and production output, helping the business examine consumption in the context of the work being performed. Automated alerts highlight unusual patterns for attention.

For a production team, that context matters. A higher energy reading can mean more output, a different product mix or a process that needs investigation. Useful reporting helps a manager ask the right question before choosing an action. It also provides a basis for comparing what happened before and after an operational change.

Looking across the manufacturing environment

Resource efficiency extends beyond the cutting cycle or the printing process. Manufacturing depends on systems that keep equipment, people and processes working together. Understanding how those services behave is part of managing the whole operation.

Croom’s monitoring programme also brings water and rooftop solar information into view. Enterprise Ireland’s case study describes support for identifying unusual consumption and for generating customer-facing sustainability information from measured data.

Recognition for digital energy management

Croom was one of four finalists in the Digital Innovation in Energy Management category at the 2026 Business Energy Achievement Awards. The awards took place on 16 September at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Santry. The shortlist placed Croom alongside other businesses applying digital technology to energy management.

For Croom, the shortlist provides an opportunity to explain the operational work behind the recognition. EcoPulse is part of a broader effort to bring manufacturing expertise and digital development together around specific business needs.

A stronger basis for improvement

The long-term value of this approach will be judged through the decisions and improvements it supports. As Croom adds manufacturing capability, resource efficiency must be considered alongside capacity, quality and delivery.

For OEM partners, measured information provides a more useful starting point for discussing the environmental impact of manufacturing. Croom’s focus is on building that evidence into daily operations, so that future improvements can be explained through the work performed and the resources it required.
